The New Realities: The Three Shifts Today’s Leaders Can’t Afford to Ignore

The Challenge Today is No Longer Getting a Message Out!

Did you know that 2 million blog posts are published per day? This eye-popping statistic is only the beginning of the noise that is drowning our marketing messages. Not only is blog content being published faster than the blink of an eye, consider the 30+ business pages sharing content on Facebook alone. With such a high volume of digital content being produced around the clock, it’s becoming increasingly difficult for marketers to reach their audiences while creating trustworthy and meaningful relationships.

The real challenge for organizations is getting their message in —so hyper-distracted audiences will engage with them. We’ll show you three shifts that will dramatically change the way you communicate in a new digital age.

The Digital Landscape Changes Fast!

DOYO Live, Keynote Debra Jasper, Ph.D., CEO of Mindset Digital

Every time we turn around there is a new platform or channel to test our marketing skills. It’s a full-time job in itself to keep up with the ever-changing landscape of online marketing. Thankfully, blogs such as DOYO Live and Mindset Digital help you stay on trend with these new channels and keep you up to speed every step of the way. However, learning how to properly use these platforms requires an entirely different attention level and skill set.

This session at DOYO Live gets you up to speed—going beyond the latest technologies and illustrating how business leaders are taking full advantage of Twitter, Instagram, gamification, content marketing, mobile trends and so much more. We’ll walk you through the three biggest shifts affecting how you connect with clients and show you the new tools and new thinking you need in a digital age. This will help you increase your marketing productivity so you can connect with your audience more efficiently than ever before.

There Are More Channels Than Ever

Blogs, Twitter, Instagram—the list goes on. The real challenge for your organization is getting your message in—getting your hyper-distracted audience to take the time to engage with you. The downside is that investing your time on every single platform is often overkill—and not to mention a big waste of budget.

Focusing your budget and energy on a handful of platforms is one of the surefire ways to ensuring communication success online. But how do you know which channels are best for you?

Maximizing Your Marketing Voice: What Works for You?

In this time of short attention spans and high expectations, this high-impact, high-energy session demonstrates how to more effectively communicate and connect in a digital age. We’ll examine how to: break through the noise and build strong connections with clients and colleagues leverage the latest visual storytelling techniques write and present in powerful new ways that wow a crowd, build your personal brand, discover not just what’s now but what’s next.

Meet Debra Jasper, Ph.D., CEO of Mindset Digital

Debra has a Ph.D., in Educational Policy and Leadership from The Ohio State University, two degrees in journalism and wrote her dissertation on the art of powerful storytelling. She was a former award-winning investigative journalist, who also spent a decade covering presidential campaigns and politics.

Debra Jasper, Ph.D., Founder/CEO of Mindset Digital, is passionate about creating and delivering highly visual, engaging presentations and stories—both online and in person.

She and her business partner, Betsy Hubbard, Mindset’s COO/President, have provided keynotes/consulting to more than 30,000 people from Ukraine to Sweden—and as the 2012 national keynote speakers for KeyBank gave talks to thousands of business leaders in 17 cities across the country. They are also international speakers—giving keynotes to the Ukrainian Council of Ministers in Kiev, the Nordic Media Festival in Bergen, and teaching Twitter at the Schibsted Academy for Journalists in Stockholm (they really like saying they’ve taught Twitter in Sweden).

Before starting Mindset Digital, Debra and Betsy spent seven years directing the Kiplinger Program in Public Affairs Journalism at Ohio State, where they launched the first social media fellowship for journalists in the nation—showing reporters from CNN, 60 Minutes, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times and other top newsrooms how to tell powerful stories on the latest channels (writing engaging tweets is a whole lot harder than it looks). They also taught graduate courses in the John Glenn School of Public Affairs on the impact of digital media on public affairs.

Debra became Director of the Kiplinger Program in 2004, after working as an investigative reporter for more than a decade and covering presidential campaigns and state politics.

She won more than 40 journalism awards during her newspaper career, including 17 first-place investigative and enterprise reporting awards. As the Statehouse Bureau Chief for the Cincinnati Enquirer, she produced in-depth projects on the lack of care for mentally ill and medically fragile children and the abuse of foster care children and people with disabilities. Debra’s work has spurred new laws, state and national reforms and numerous state audits. She has a Ph.D. from Ohio State in Educational Policy and Leadership and wrote her dissertation on the art of powerful storytelling (her dad was an amazing storyteller in the Flatwoods of Appalachia). She also has a master’s in journalism from Ohio State and a bachelor’s in journalism from Eastern Kentucky University.
